First meeting of the year – Wonderful Wednesday, 15 January 2020

The first meeting of the year is this Wednesday, 15 January, in the Hall at the Cook Community Hub, from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

Canberra Quilters has resumed the normal schedule of meetings, drop-ins and special interest group get togethers. You can check the calendar on the website here or in the newsletter, Connecting Threads.

The meeting is followed by a drop-in at the Canberra Quilters room. The library is open for the first half of the drop-in. This drop-in is also when the English Paper Piecing (EPP) Group meets. The EPP Group is for members who like to do English Paper Piecing – learning from each other, getting help or working on a current project. You don’t have to be part of this group to come to the drop-in.

Don’t forget to bring something for show & tell. The ROWmakers group will be showing efforts from previous years. This will be the 10th year that this group has been meeting.

For new members, Wonderful Wednesday is held on the third Wednesday of each month except December, normally in the Hub Hall from 9.30am till 12.30pm. It is a good opportunity to do some handwork and meet for a chat. We have Raffles, Lucky Door Prize, and Name Badge Draw, some of the most wonderful morning tea fare and a themed Show and Tell plus the regular Show and Tell.

If you are a newcomer or you haven’t been for a while PLEASE come and sit at Christine’s table (WW convener) where ever that may be, until you get better acquainted with the other members.

Evening Meeting – Thursday 7 November

The evening meeting is this Thursday, 7 November, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, in the Hall at the Cook Community Hub. The meeting starts with formal committee (and other) reports and news, followed by a guest speaker.

Fiona Hammond, well know CQ member and owner of “Creative Edge” in Braidwood will be speaking about her creative life.

Please bring something along for show & tell. We all like to see what everyone is working on.

All the usual meeting fun – lucky door prize, badge draw, raffle and regular show and tell. Don’t forget to stay and chat over a cuppa and check out the show and tell.

It is the bring and buy meeting, so bring sewing related supplies to sell, or bring your money.

Don’t forget to bring something for regular show & tell.

MEMEBERSHIP REMINDER. Membership fees are due on 1 January. You can join online or at the meeting. You need to be a member to borrow from the library, use the room and its facilities regularly, stand for the committee or exhibit and sell in the exhibition.

Small Japanese Projects – 24 July

The next meeting of the Small Japanese Projects group is on 24 July, from 10am-noon, in the CQ room at Cook Community Hub.

The Small Japanese Projects interest group is for members interested in all things Japanese. Each month (or over two months) you will work on a small project, lead by a member of the group.

The meeting begins with a show and tell of what you have made, purchased or done during the previous months. It is always great to hear about your activities.

The next meeting will be a general catch up with members working on their own projects.

The meeting is followed by a drop-in until 4pm. The English Paper Piecing (EPP) group meets as part of the drop-in.
