The Creative Clothing interest group meets on Thursday, 12 June, from 10am.

Here is a list of things that might be of interest:
- Fingerless Gloves/Mittens
Bring along your work to show and tell. Perhaps you might wish to work on them at the meeting.
- Embellishment with Hand Embroidery
I have a folder of ideas that might be helpful if you are looking for an idea that gives your garment/s an extra “zing”.
- Threads Workshop Report and Show and Tell – those people who attended should bring their sample/s.
- Fibre Arts Australia – Felt @ Winter School, 3-7 July 2014 at Ballarat Grammar, Victoria

- Bring along your Exhibition projects to discuss and/or work on
I look forward to catching up.
The regular meeting timeslot is from 10.00am to 4.00pm on the second Thursday of each month from February until December. Time is allocated for the following:
- Issues for discussion such as challenges, exhibition details, etc
- A “show and tell” when members share books, magazines, patterns, projects and fabrics
- Demonstrations of techniques such as making embellishments using soluble stabilizer or creating fabric using digital images
- Time to work on projects for challenges or the exhibition
Challenge– the group is conducting a challenge to make a pair of fingerless mittens that can be entered in the accessories category in the annual members’ exhibition. They need to be cloth-based (not knitted or crocheted) and can incorporate all sorts of fabric manipulation and embellishment. In this case a pair doesn’t mean they have to be identical – you just need one for each hand. If you do a search on ‘fingerless mittens sewing pattern’ you will find lots of ideas and patterns. Commercial patterns are also available, such as Vogue 8966
The Creative Clothing interest group is having its first meeting of the year on Thursday 16 January, from10am until 3pm. This is not the normal meeting day (2nd Thursday of the month), but has been changed for this month only.
Meeting is held in the CQ room- projects, techniques, ideas discussed. Help with fitting and fabrics.
The final meeting of the year for the Creative Clothing interest group will be this Thursday from 10am until 2pm. All are welcome. It will be a festive morning tea, so please bring a plate to share. Please bring along any other sewing projects you would like to share.
No special activity this month – just wind-down party mode!
Here are some images of the completed pieces from the October activity – we were using soluble stabiliser to trap fibres, fabric etc.
A meeting is scheduled for January – but not until the 16th. See you then!
The Creative Clothing Interest Group will be meeting this Thursday from 10am until 3pm.
Part of the day will be set aside for analysing body shape, to get better fitting clothes. They will also be looking at an internal challenge to make embellished fingerless mittens.
Last month the group experimented with ‘making fabric’ using fabric scraps, yarn, ribbon sandwiched in a soluble stabiliser. Here are some images of the day:
The Creative Clothing Interest Group meets on Thursday from 10am until 4pm. The day is divided into segments. From 10am until 12 noon there is a planned activity. This month we will be making fabric using soluble stabilizer. Here is a description and requirements from convenor Sandra:
creating fabric and/or embellishments using soluble stabilizer – bring along small pieces of sheer, glitzy fabric; yarn pieces; soluble stabilizer (I will bring some if you don’t have any); and your machine plus interesting threads for sewing the sandwich of stabilizer and bits and pieces – you will need to bring your sewing machine if you wish to complete the exercise on the day.
The rest of the day you work on your own projects, sewing, cutting out, getting help with designs or measuring and fitting. The group sits down for lunch together between (about) 12.30 and 1.30pm.
We had a small gathering at the Creative Clothing interest group on Thursday (9 May).
As usual we shared pattern, technique and project information, brainstormed some ideas.
Louise brought her embellishing machine for us to try. We were all amazed at its capabilities. We will be having another demo at the July meeting (11th). Here are some images:
