Challenge Theme 2018 – Blue and White

May 9, 2018 | Posted in CQ Exhibition | By Liz Rose
Challenge 2018:
Every year Canberra Quilters has a quilt challenge theme category at the exhibition. For 2018 the theme chosen by the main committee is ‘Blue & White’.
Members can choose to respond to the theme any way they like in their quilt as long as it meets the size requirements of 70cm x 50cm, portrait or landscape orientation. The challenge quilts generally travel as a group to other quilt groups during the subsequent year.
You are invited to make a quilt in the challenge format, incorporating the idea of ‘Blue & White’. You may choose to make it from all the shades and tones of blue, and white. Or you may focus on-
- the sea /ocean / sky
- something in the garden
- blue and white china (Blue Willow, Delftware)
- gemstones (blue diamond, sapphire)
- bluesy music
- choose an appropriate block or
- play on the words
You have many paths you could follow in making your quilt.
Enter your items in the Annual Members Exhibition, held in August 2018. You have until June to submit an entry. The entry pack will be available in mid 2018 with Connecting Threads and online.
The challenge theme for 2019 has also been selected: “Off the Sheep’s Back”. So get ready for August 2019!
