One of Canberra Quilters’ sponsors, The Creative Retreat, is hosting Denyse Schmidt for a lecture/ trunks show and workshops. There are a limited number of places available in one of the workshops. Details:
A pioneer of the modern quilting movement is coming to Canberrra and bringing her contemporary take on design to us!
Book your tickets today – the event is this Wednesday 13 September, at 7pm at the Ainslie Arts Centre in Braddon.
Join Denyse Schmidt and The Creative Retreat for a captivating evening learning about Denyse’s modernist approach to traditional patchwork. Be inspired by her creative, imaginative and resourceful approach and the journey she has taken to becoming a world-renowned quilt maker and fabric designer.
In true Creative Retreat style, refreshments will be part of the celebrations too! And if the lecture and tasty goodies aren’t enough to tempt you, there will be a book signing, a pop-up shop (full of modern quilting fabrics, Aurifil threads and notions), and a display of quilts too.
If you’d like a bit more time with Denyse, there are a couple of workshop places left in the days following the lecture, they can be found here.
The host of the event is Jules McMahon, a Canberra Quilters member, and the founder of The Creative Retreat, a workshop space and fabric store located in a rural setting at Sutton, just 15 minutes from Dickson. You can contact Jules via email to jules@thecreativeretreat.com
