Two of Canberra Quilters’ sponsors (Crafty Frog and Treasured Textiles) are getting behind the Healing Hearts for Christchurch quilt drive – organised by Angels in Gumboots in Ashhurst, NZ.
On Wednesday 27 March, from 10am until 4pm, Crafty Frog will be running a sewing day to make the hearts/ quilts. If you can’t sew that isn’t a problem – they need people to cut fabric, iron pieces, provide nibblies…

One of Canberra Quilters sponsors, Treasured Textiles, is having a sale this Sunday 17 February, from 10am until 4pm. It is being held at Macarthur Scout Hall, Coyne St, Macarthur, next to the MPower Dome. There is off-street parking, and it is near good coffee shops at Chisholm and Gowrie.
There will be lots of lovely 100% cotton Bali batik fabrics for sale at $15 per metre (minimum cut half a metre), lots of fat quarters at $4 each or 6 for $20, plus a good range of fat quarter packs and jelly rolls. Quite a few threads for sale – several types of Superior Threads plus some Mettler and Gutermann There will also be some crazy patch packs, with colour coordinated fabric and embellishments, for small projects such as bags and cushions.

A full day workshop with Akiko Ike, the renowned Chiku-Chiku artist from Japan. Learn the technique of chiku-chiku by making a pin cushion and brooch with vintage Japanese fabrics and special threads brought by Akiko.
The evening meeting is this Thursday, 1 February, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, in the Hall at the Cook Community Hub. The meeting starts with formal committee (and other) reports and news, followed by an activity.
Membership Renewal- Don’t forget membership fee was due on 1 January. Renew at the meeting. You need to be a member to stand for the AGM in March. You also need to be a member by 31 March in order to exhibit or sell at the Annual Exhibition in August.
This is the meeting where sponsors & teachers make announcements about their activities for the coming year. The special interest groups of Canberra Quilters have been asked to provide info about their respective groups, when they meet and any other information you might want to ask about.
This is also the time for a library fund raising sale. Books excess to the library, and donated books and other media will be for sale in the Hall, for reasonable prices. Unsold items will be for sale at the February Wonderful Wednesday meeting. Come along to pick up a bargain!
Please bring something along for show & tell. We all like to see what everyone is working on.
