Small Japanese Projects – 23 September

The next get together of the Small Japanese Projects group is on Wednesday 23 September, from 10am until 12 noon.

Dust off your kumihimo disk! By popular request, we’ll do another Japanese braiding session. Learn how to make a new type of braid, or continue working on your earlier one.

If you missed out last time, borrow a disk from a friend, or buy one. If you can’t get a disk, come along anyway – we’ll be happy to show you how to get started.

Each person will need:

A kumihimo disk

A metre or more of about 4-6 contrasting colours of thread such as stranded embroidery thread, pearl thread, or 2 mm rattail. Or perhaps you’d like to try nubbly wools, or a mixture of thread types? If you want to make a striped braid, you will need less colours but twice as much length.
