Creative Textile Show – 2-4 May

Don’t forget the Creative Textile Show is on this week, starting on Friday, at the Convention Centre in Canberra City. It is on from 9am to 4.30 pm each day. Canberra Quilters will have a stand, displaying quilts, selling raffle tickets etc.

You can sign up for classes, get supplies and admire the work of many creative people.  Our own Helen Godden will be there demonstrating the Sweet Sixteen machine – you can sign up for a test-drive. See the full range of info here .

The Living Colour quilts are also on display. These are curated by member Brenda Gael Smith. Brenda is doing a floor talk each day at 12.30pm

  1. I had a wonderful day at the Creative Textile Show!!! So many gorgeous threads, yarns, fabrics, techniques! A print-making class, followed by wandering through the show ended up keeping me in a very happy place for seven hours…. I saw quite a few friendly faces, including Jenny Bowker looking bright and happy to see people, Fiona Hammond working hard on the Dyed and gone to Heaven stall, Linda Magee and Jan Gordan selling raffle tickets, Liz Rose, Helen Godden, Shuji Yamazaki, and more – even on a Friday! I met a 98 year old lady who was there with her daughter and who told me her story – that was very special! And WOW!!! SALT (South Australian Living Textile) group exhibition was one of the most inspiring thigns I have seen for ages! The ACT Textile Arts Association also has a big display that is gorgeous – and a raffle. So much to broaden one’s horizons. Seriously, if you haven’t been yet, don’t miss out – two days to go.
