ROWmakers meeting on 12 October

We meet again on Wednesday where some lucky people will get to pick the final Ingredients for this year. The meeting is on 12 October, 10am for a 10.30 start. It is followed by the drop-in until 4pm, incorporating the Bil’s Girls (William Morris applique) interest group.

ROWmakers design group meets 11 May

The next meeting of the ROWmakers design group will be this Wednesday, 10am for a 10.30am start, until 12 noon. Meeting is in the CQ room at Cook.

The next meeting of the ROWmakers design group is on Wednesday 14 October, 10am for a 10.30am start, until 12 noon. This is followed by the William Morris applique group until 4pm.
This meeting will reveal the results of the eighth round ( red, wool/felt, ‘T’) and draw out the requirements for the ninth and final round.

Busy Week for Canberra Quilters

The second week of the month is always a busy one for Canberra Quilters. Here is a list of what is coming up:
Tuesday, 8 September : QFO working bee 10am-2.30pm
Wednesday, 9 September: ROWmakers design group 10am for 10.30am until 12 noon. Followed by Drop-in until 4pm, incorporating ‘Bill’s Girls’ – the William Morris applique interest group.
Thursday, 10 September: Creative Clothing interest group from 10am until 2pm. In the evening, Modern Quilting from 7.30pm.
Friday, 11 September: Drop-in from 10am until 4pm
Saturday, 12 September: Art Quilters group from 1pm until 4pm
All these meetings are held in the Canberra Quilters room at the Cook Community Hub.

REMINDERS- 2nd week of the month

The second week of the month is always a busy one with a number of regular activities on the calendar.
QFO on Tuesday, 10am till 2.30pm. Help sew quilts for charities.
ROWMAKERS design group on Wednesday, 10am for 10.30 until 12 noon, followed by the drop-in until 4pm. This incorporates the William Morris interest group from 12 noon.
Creative Clothing Interest Group on Thursday, from 10am until 2pm.
Modern Quilt Group on Thursday evening, from 7.30pm until 10ish. Gerda will be demonstrating Y seams. Bring show & tell and your own work to do.
Art Quilters Group on Saturday, from 1-4pm:
Please bring your tiny treasure, “Winter” theme to Show&Tell. Also, those ladies who participated in the Jo Hollier workshop (lino cutting/printing), please bring your samples. Mystery mini-workshop: please bring pieces of fabric and paper, no bigger than A4 … Wilma and Buffy will bring the rest

ROWmakers resumes on 10 September

After having a break for the exhibition period the ROWmakers design challenge resumes tomorrow, 10 September. Room opens at 10am for a 10.30 start.
We are three quarters of the way through – having had six combinations to work on, two more to go. Hope you can all bring some show and tell so that we can see have you have progressed. Here is a reminder of what has been drawn out so far:

The next meeting of ROWmakers design group is on Wednesday 9 July, 10am for a 10.30am start, in the CQ room.
So far five rounds of combinations have been put forward to challenge the participants. At the June meeting the following were chosen:
- Blue (Jill Kennedy)
- Traditional Piecing (Joan Porta)
- “E” (Leonie Grigg)
- “P” (Liz Rose)
Of course the letters offer many different ways to satisfy- colour (emerald, pink, purple) or technique (embellish, embroidery, piecing, patchwork, pintucks), as well as many block names.

Straight after the ROWmakers meeting and into the afternoon the William Morris interest group (Bill’s Girls) get together to talk and work on their William Morris applique projects.
ROWmakers and Bill’s Girls reminders – 14 May

The monthly meeting of the ROWmakers design challenge group is on Wednesday, 10am for a 10.30am start, until 12 noon.
Just a reminder of what elements to choose from to be included:
. RED (Di Ballantyne)
. CIRCLES/CURVES (Jenny Petersen)
. “C” (Annette Dziedzic)
. “V” (Pat Savas)
You could go “all red” and choose cerise for C and vermillion for V, use spotted fabric to meet the circles/ curves ingredient, or use blocks starting with C- Churn Dash, Cotton Reels, Chinese Lantern, Colorado Star, Cross Roads; or V – Virginia Star, Virginia Compass (by Jinny Beyer) , Variable Star, Vermont Maple Leaf.
Immediately following the ROWmakers meeting the William Morris interest group (Bill’s Girls) meets in the afternoon. This is a group of members who are interested in the William Morris style of quilts, using the William Morris fabrics or finishing off quilts started in Michelle Hill workshops.
