The Biggest Quilting Bee Morning Tea was held on 4 May and raised $2291 for cancer research. On the day there were lots of fun and games, raffles and lucky door prizes.

Organiser Kay Provins and her team of Gail Stephenson, Mary Thompson, Beres Senden, Trish Norton, Barbara Brown, Pat Savas and Gaye Finlay organised a wonderful day for all who attended. We thank the sponsorship of Hobby Sew, Addicted to Fabric, Rosemont the Patchwork Shop, Bead Street, Stitch ‘N Time, The Scissor Man, Kippax Pharmacy, Helen Godden, Fiona Hammond ………… and also to our lovely members who contributed to both the raffle prizes and our white elephant stall.  Quilts for Others were very generous in donating a beautiful black, white and red quilt for our major raffle.

The puzzles were hard and for those of you wondering here are the answers to download- BMT Anagram game answers, BMT Empty words game answers, BMT books and authors answers

Here are some images taken on the day:

Evening Meeting – May 1: Buddist Thangkas

April 27, 2014 | Posted in Meetings | By

The evening meeting is this Thursday, starting at 7.30pm, in the Cook Community Hub Hall.

Guest speaker is Edie Young from the National Gallery of Australia talking about Buddhist Thangkas – how they are made and used. Apprentices train for 3 years to learn to design draw, mark, cut and applique pieces of silk brocade to make brilliant sacred images for wall hangings.

The library will be open to members after the meeting – check out the new books listed for April here . Raffle, lucky door prize, name badge draw. If you can’t make the Biggest Morning Tea on 4 May perhaps you would like to make a tax-deductible donation or buy a raffle ticket at this meeting – Kay will be happy to take your money.

You can also take raffle books to sell tickets in this year’s exhibition raffle.
