Evolution, Change, Challenge – A Contemporary Quilt is an exhibition of contemporary quilts exploring the title theme. There are 28 works from 27 artists. The exhibition runs from 28 August – 8 September and the awards ceremony is at 1pm on Saturday, 29 August 2015. The exhibition is a collaboration between The Quilters’ Guild of NSW and the Hazlehurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre.
The exhibition is at Hazlehurst Community Gallery, 728 Kingsway, Gymea, NSW. Other events in association with the exhibition include:
- daily demonstrations of quilting with a contemporary twist
- 29-30 August: Thread Painting workshop with Cathy Jack Coupland at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery
- 30 August: Hazelhurst Regional Gallery Open Day – a festival of exhibitions, stalls, food and music
- 5 September: presentation by Kay Haerland at 11am
Evolution, Change, Challenge – A Contemporary Quilt is being held in conjunction with a curated exhibition of quilts at Hazelhurst Gallery and Arts Centre. Labours of Love – Australian Quilts from 1850 – 2015 will display quilts sourced from The National Gallery Australia, Canberra, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney and noted quilters and fibre artists from across New South Wales.
