Evening Meeting – 6 October

The evening meeting is this Thursday, 6 October, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, in the Hall at the Cook Community Hub.

Quilt for Others will be holding a sale of excess fabric after this meeting. They often get donations of fabric – more than can be used and use the money from this sale to buy batting and thread.

The special activity this month will be a presentation on the Days for Girls project, by member Phillipa Leask. Information about Days for Girls is available on this website –  http://www.daysforgirls.org

For the Days for Girls presentation, we are calling on donations of the following items for the kits they make:

  • Boxes of large Ziplock plastic bags (gallon bags from Costco are ideal)
  • Underwear (packaged, new) – girls sizes 12-14 and women sizes up to 10 – 12
  • 100% cotton quilters fabric and flannelette

Please see member Louise Fredericks with any of these items or to make cash donations. For underwear and fabric: bright and patterns, no light colours, no faces or animals. Patterns are good but not too modern patterns, e.g. stripes are great. Please bring these donations to any of the September, October and November meetings.

All the usual meeting fun- lucky door prize, badge draw, raffle and regular show and tell. Don’t forget to stay and chat over a cuppa and check out the show and tell.

Library will be open for this meeting so come along to return books and borrow more.
