Creative Clothing Interest Group- 13 February + challenge

The regular meeting timeslot is from 10.00am to 4.00pm on the second Thursday of each month from February until December.  Time is allocated for the following:

  1. Issues for discussion such as challenges, exhibition details, etc
  2. A “show and tell” when members share books, magazines, patterns, projects and fabrics
  3. Demonstrations of techniques such as making embellishments using soluble stabilizer or creating fabric using digital images
  4. Time to work on projects for challenges or the exhibition

Challenge– the group is conducting a challenge to make a pair of fingerless mittens that can be entered in the accessories category in the annual members’ exhibition. They need to be cloth-based (not knitted or crocheted) and can incorporate all sorts of fabric manipulation and embellishment. In this case a pair doesn’t mean they have to be identical – you just need one for each hand. If you do a search on ‘fingerless mittens sewing pattern’ you will find lots of ideas and patterns. Commercial patterns are also available, such as Vogue 8966
