Each Year at the Australian Quilt Convention there is a call for volunteers to help out with the quilt show part of the convention. The volunteers are co-ordinated through Victorian Quilters. Here is their request:
Once again Victorian Quilters Inc., as volunteers, will be co coordinating the roster for “Angel Duty” at AQC. If you would like to spend time chatting with quiltmakers and up close to the amazing quilts on display, then put your name on the list of volunteers and email your details to Archangel, Chris Serong : firstname.lastname@example.org with suggested day and time.
The AQC is at the Royal Exhibition Buildings, Nicholson Street, Carlton, Melbourne from Thursday 14 April to Sunday 17 April.
Quilt in banner is the Best of Show from our exhibition last year ( Canzone Rosso by Panela Brockwell). It will be on display at AQC and will tour to the Craft and Quilt Fairs throughout 2016.
If you are going to Braidwood for their Quilt Event, don’t forget to stop off in Bungendore for the Bungendore Quilters exhibition.
Each year the Bungendore Quilt Exhibition invites a guest exhibitor or group to exhibit their art on the stage in the Bungendore War Memorial Hall. These exhibitors focus on one particular area of the textile arts or in the case of groups, a variety of textile arts. Normally this is kept as a surprise until the opening but I can let you know that it is the Modern Quilt group of Canberra Quilters- so keep your eyes open at the weekend for some modern quilts on the stage.
This weekend is the Braidwood Quilt Event. As well as the airing of the quilts in the main street on Saturday 28th, there will be displays at various venues in the town.
Canberra Quilters will have quilts on display at the Services Club (aka Servicemen’s Club) at the end of Duncan Street/Coronation Avenue in Braidwood. When coming from Canberra take a right turn from Wallace Street/ King’s Highway into Duncan Street. We will also be operating a mini Sales Room of high quality goods, made by members. Hours are 9.00am until 4.00pm each day.
