Call for entries – various opportunities

There are several opportunities this year for members to enter selected competitions /exhibitions:

  1. World Quilt Competition 2017

Australian entries for the World Quilt Competition 2017  are now open. Share your artwork on the international stage, and let someone else look after logistics, shipping, customs and insurance!   Entries close on Monday, 15 May 2017. Accepted entries will premiere at World Quilt New England  (17-19 August 2017) and tour to other Mancuso shows in the United States until early 2018.

Entries can be submitted via the Online Entry Form. Alternatively, download, complete and return the World Quilt Competition 2017 Entry Form – Australian Edition (PDF) by e-mail or post. Be aware that your quilt must be at least 1296 square inches (eg 36x36in)  and completed in 2015, 2016 or 2017.  See the Contest Rules for more information.

  1. Art Quilt Australia 2017

Art Quilt Australia 2017 is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand and OZQN (Ozquilt Network) members worldwide. Entries close on 7 June 2017. Submission is via the online entry form or by postal mail only.

The exhibition will be held at the prestigious Queen Victoria Art Gallery, Launceston, Tasmania from Friday 7 September to Sunday 22 October 2017 and will be documented in a comprehensive catalogue.

Art Quilt Australia 2017 is a juried exhibition with $6000 in prize money.  All selected entries are automatically eligible for consideration for the $3000 Award of Excellence (non-acquisitive). Entrants submitting complying wool quilts (see below) may also nominate their work for the $3000 Expressions:Wool Quilt Prize where the winning work is acquired by the National Wool Museum for its permanent collection.

3. Australian Quilts in Public Places – AQIPP 2017

Quilters are invited to demonstrate their talents and originality in interpreting the theme:

Whitehorse Artspace, Box Hill, Melbourne VIC.

AQIPP is a juried, judged and sponsored exhibition which is open to all quilters in Australia.

  1. Tasmanian Art Quilt Prize 2018

A collaborative program between the Tasmanian Quilting Guild & the Maritime Museum of Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Art Quilt Prize 2018 Exhibition will be held in the Carnegie Gallery at the Maritime Museum of Tasmania in Hobart from Tuesday 1st May to Sunday 3rd June 2018.

The Tasmanian Art Quilt Prize is open to textile artists across Australia. This biennial exhibition aims to promote best practice in art quilting and encourage experimentation by presenting new and exciting textile art. There is an additional category of Textile Sculpture.

The theme is ‘Ebb and Flow’. Entries close on 5 March 2018.
