Small Japanese Projects group- 25 May

The next meeting of the Small Japanese Projects group is on Wednesday 25 May, 10am until 12 noon, in the CQ room. This is followed by drop-in until 4pm, incorporating the Lucy Boston interest group.

A message from convenor Wendy, about the morning’s activity:

It’s getting colder. Let’s make scarves! We will talk about what makes a scarf work, and what doesn’t; storing and washing them.  We’ll play with the fabrics so that you can go home inspired to start.

Your task for next Wednesday is this:

  • go through your scarves and think about what size works for you, what fabric works – and what doesn’t. Bring them along. If we are going to make a marvellous new scarf, we want it to be just right.
  • bring along your potential scarf fabrics – lovely silk remnants, cotton pieces, or even fine wool pieces. We can discuss what makes a scarf interesting (Japanese style).

And don’t forget – if you were thinking about making a small drawstring bag, it only takes an hour. Plus the time you spend digging through your fabrics! The promised instructions for the drawstring bag are here.

Wendy Saclier will bring some Japanese fabrics along for sale. Proceeds will go to a charity.
