NEW COMPETITION APPEALS TO ALL TEXTILE ARTISTS, DESIGNERS, STUDENTS
Just announced – Art U Wear is a very special competition creating the perfect opportunity for textile artists, designers, students and anyone with a love of this medium to show off what they can do. Three winners will share in $5000 prize money.
Outfits can be any interpretation of the theme ‘Iconic Australia’, as long as they are primarily textile material (more than 50%). The competition is open to the public. Deadline is April 10, 2015 and entry forms will be available online by December 10, 2014 on www.fibrefest.com.au.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to enter and a number of finalist pieces will be selected for display at FibreFest, May 1 – 3, 2015.
Judy Newman, Craft Consultant at Expertise Events asks the craft community to consider; “What does ‘Iconic Australia’ mean to you? We are excited to see how this theme will capture the imaginations of textile lovers across Australia and New Zealand and how it will be interpreted in wearable art. It will make a stunning display!
“We will announce three winners at the FibreFest show, where a number of outfits will also be chosen to tour various craft events around Australia until November, 2015.”
FibreFest is an event which pushes creative boundaries, and the organisers believe the range, skill and diversity of talent this competition will attract makes a beautiful fit.
FibreFest will be held at Australian Technology Park, Sydney, May 1- 3, 2015. The Park is at Everleigh, near Redfern.
