Michele Hill taught applique in Tile Play on 11th-12th May. It was a very sharing workshop with an opportunity to enjoy some gorgeous Canberra Autumn weather and a chat in a break from our designing, cutting and sewing. Michele shared tips and tricks and her extensive knowledge of getting the best from sewing machines of all sorts. We learned about a few new essential tools for sewers! Michele treated us to a talk on William Morris and his daughter, May and also some highlights of the William Morris tours which tempted us all.
The tiles produced at this workshop could make some very impressive quilts, so we are looking forward to seeing results.
A special hello to South Australian Quilters!
William Morris in Wool, gave quilters and embroiderers the opportunity to combine felted wool with Victorian stitchery in a one day workshop on Monday 13th May. This was a very relaxed workshop with gentle classical music playing in the background, where even Michele learned some new tricks.
Michele was very generous in sharing stories, patterns and her knowledge, and we wish her well for the future as she reduces her teaching load.
