- Bring a needle, thread and scissors: we will be sewing… Details on the night. Join us to create for our community.

Don’t forget to pick up some raffle tickets to sell. The proceeds of the raffle support Canberra Quilters with the operating expenses of running our room, our activities, and the exhibition. It is a very important fundraiser.

This month it is all about #100Days100Blocks. With over 57,000 images on its hashtag , the 100 Days 100 Blocks sew-along is the largest Instagram based sew-along ever held. Come behind-the-scenes to find out more about this yearly event and how you can participate and connect with quilters all over the world. It is the perfect event for beginners and confident quilters alike!
An additional attraction at this month’s meeting is the QFO team selling fabric that is excess to their requirements – they get lots of donations and can’t use it all. The money raised is used to buy supplies like batting, to continue this community project.

First drawn ticket #2663, Juliette Martel of Casey, chose the sewing machine
Second drawn ticket #0575, Felicity Tipper from Germany, but care of member Berys Senden, chose the blue quilt.
Third drawn ticket #2976, Karin Currall, chose the red quilt.
Fourth drawn ticket #0215, member Elaine White receives the hamper of sewing and quilting goods.

The featured speakers this month are Ann McMahon and Monika McInerney from the Belconnen Arts Centre. They will speak to us about their full range of programs; how to apply for exhibitions, running workshops and possibilities for working collaboratively with them.
You can return your raffle tickets at the meeting- the deadline has now passed for returns. Under the terms of the permit we must account for all tickets – so you need to return them sold or unsold! Leonie will be happy to help you out. The more tickets sold the better we are able to support Canberra Quilters’ activities. One of the raffle quilts is in the banner of this post.

Reminder that deposits for the CQ 40th birthday lunch on 17 July are due ($10). Payments can be made at the meeting or by EFT/ direct deposit. The latter should be references with “40th lunch”.

Volunteers are needed to help sell raffle tickets at the Addicted to Fabric annual sale on Friday 3 June and Saturday 4 June. If you have an hour or two to spare on the Friday between 7am and 7pm and/or the Saturday between 10am and 4pm, please contact Leonie Grigg through the details in the newsletter. The only time no longer available is 10am to 12 noon on Friday. Your help would be appreciated.
